Description
The position is established to support the Geoscience Engineering Team, a newly established team dealing with the various geo-related aspects of subsea cable installation and protection from the early stages of a project, during Tender / FEED, and preparation for execution phase. The role includes undertaking and/or reviewing studies, such as burial assessments, cable routing studies, Site Investigation (SI) planning, jet/trencher/ploughing performance assessment etc., supporting the Project Engineering Team and internal development projects. The Geotechnical Engineer may be asked to follow up a Project offshore, providing his/her expertise.
Responsibilities
Engineering
Review of geotechnical and geophysical data and reports;
Define ground models for cable protection purposes and undertake Burial Assessment Studies;
Undertake / review route engineering studies;
Jet / trencher/plough performance assessments and field data analysis;
Define / review geotechnical/geophysical site investigation scope and provide live support, based on project’s scope and requirements;
Perform QA/QC of tasks/analyses carried out by others;
Interface with the Project Teams, and more specifically with the Project Offshore Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers and/or Offshore/field engineers to present the findings of the analyses and identify critical steps;
Inter-department & External Communication
Reports to Geoscience Engineering Manager;
Cooperates with other teams (Project teams, PM, Production department);
Communicates with client (teleconferences/face to face meetings);
Communicates with subcontractors ;
Onboard attendance for project preparation, follow up or SI supervision might be needed, but is expected to be limited;

Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology. Master’s degree preferred;
0-3 years related engineering experience in the offshore renewables, oil and gas industry or equivalent;
Other working experience in similar positions is under consideration as well;
Knowledge of industry standards and methods for Site Investigation and geotechnical design is preferred;
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office is required;
Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language is required;
Participation on offshore projects is required;
